Neighborhood News is a Smash Hit!! The older sibling babysitting pro/con list was a highlight to be sure!
-Sept 2025
Sibling fights in issue 10 of Neighborhood News : 2 votes for yes. It teaches responsibility and conflict resolution. Also, as two older siblings, we think they should be paid for their babysitting work
-Sept 2025
Hi Nora and Charlotte. In response to your question about sibling babysitting in issue #10, In my opinion is that with great power comes great responsibility and older siblings should only watch their younger siblings if they're ready for great responsibility. Sincerely, Taxi Cat (via Taxi's person, Emily) PS: Thank you for sharing your hilarious comics!

Hello!! I'm a frequent reader of the little news magazines (seen them at Cup O' Joe and Florin) and they make me smile and laugh every time with the creativity!! I'm a local artist and I adore seeing kids pursue passions like this. Also! My vote (my name is Charlotte, so I may be a little biased), is for big sis in the babysitting debacle. Lol, Nora still needs a little bit more freedom though!!😂

Hey! I picked up Issue 26 of the Neighborhood News from Florin Coffee shop! Loved it! It was a great lunch time read!
The Choose your Adventure was a lot of fun - got a huge giggle out of Recess wee theory and read the poem with LOTS of emotion!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi! Just read the Neighborhood News, Issue 19. We loved it!! The perfect literature to sip with our coffee at Cup O' Joe. How often do you release issues? We'd love to be consistent readers!
-Nov 2024
Hi!! Our names are Tara and Larissa. We read your WHOLE Back 2 School neighborhood news and we LOVED it. We read it out loud to each other and played different parts the whole time. It was so funny (and morbid at times). Love your work! Have a great day!
Harrison, your poem, "Summer" is extrordinarily radiant. Your simple phrasing and word images creates the magical mood of summer. Each of your four verses has it's own distinct flavor.
The breeze The ice cream The water The sky
These are my favorite scoops of summer. Harrison, I enjoy your summer poem so much, I made an extra copy to carry throughout my summer season. By the way, there is another poet, C. C. Cummings who writes his name and poetry in lower case. Harrison, pursue your art of poetry. It is a talent worthy of your time and imagination!
Good morning! We just read the Oops All Lego issue of Neighborhood News and it was absolutely excellent. Such a good plot and SO funny.
Also, congratulations on your grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council!! Grant writing isn't easy, and I wanted to congratulate everyone involved!!!

To whom it may concern, I'd like to order a magic lamp please :). Best paper in town!!!!
Thank you Neighborhood News!! I tried the leaf soaked in dirt and it wasn't very good, but I think it's because I got impatient and only soaked it for 2 hours instead of 3-4. Thank you for your work! you got a lot of strangers in line at Cup O Joe talking and laughing about how much we liked it.
Hey Neighborhood News! My wife and I were having a sad day but picked up the Valentine's day issue at Cup O Joe and all the activities and comics turned our day around. Thanks for being clever, creative, and HILARIOUS!

Hello, I just picked up a copy of Issue 31 of Neighborhood News and I just want to say I loved it! The amount of creativity that exists throughout every page was so heartwarming. It brought me so much joy to just be present and flip through the pages. I can't remember the last time I felt so calm. My favorite piece was the choose your own adventure passage. I went through all the different options and had a blast. Looking forward to reading the next issue!

I love this newspaper I got at my local coffee shop in Worthington. May I ask how old you are that is that advanced to be able to create your own newsletter?
-Aug 29th
Stedman, I am clapping my hands for your action packed-comedic short story!!!
The "The Astroid Attack! " hits a home run out of the park.
The reviews covered a wide gamut of emotions, a mixed bag.
Let's start with Bob, an audience member, whose review was all about action. He enjoyed the scene when the asteroid killed all the people.
Darnell's review was more editorial. He suggested to introduce the asteroid strike at the end of the film. It creates more suspense.
As for Susan, her review is more insightful. She realizes she needs to find a new boyfriend. Romance had nothing to do with plot development.
The best review was Stedman's critique on the director. Fabulous, most amazing, a genius!
I may want to see the film, however, your story was a film writer's dream. Stedman, continue to write and pursue your dreams. Thank you

Just read neighborhood news issue 30 and I loved it! Really fun, great illustration, and fantastic cover. Keep up the good work.
-Aug 18th
Our weekend tradition of coffee and Neighborhood News! 3 year old Mya loves these! Thanks for all the hard work!
My, oh my, what a delightful, suspenseful and yummy story! "The Story of the Lemonade Stand". The main characters, Lemonade, Donut, and Bracelet were well developed and dramatic. Your story sets the stage with an ordinary lemonade stand. Main character, Lemonade worries whether anyone will come by and purchase a drink and other goodies. Of course, someone appears and the drama begins...
Great story Harrison, continue with your joy of writing!
-Lupe, July 24th
Hi Nora, I'm a journalist from the Los Angeles Times. I am visiting a friend in Ohio and came across your paper and I love it! Keep up the good work!

I absolutely LOVE neighborhood news and was hoping to be a writer? I’m not so great at drawing and I’m only in third grade, but next year? After that?!?! I LOVE writing and drawing comics, and, as you can see, I’m okay at writing. Oh, by the way, you could interview me for neighborhood news, and my brother! I do live in the neighborhood, obv. But not in the middle, just the side of it.
Sorry-this was too long!

To the creators of Neighborhood News:
I am writing to you regarding your most recent issue (as far as I am aware), Issue 19. I picked it up at Highline Coffee and I was thrilled to see that this was much more interesting than the other newspapers available on the stand.
I have often thought to myself, "Why don't more newspapers feature colorful 3D hearts popping off of the front page?" And finally, my wish was fulfilled. Additionally, the front cover featured the most glorious fanged heart that I have ever seen.
As a super-fan of cephalopods (you should see my desk at work; it has a whole Octopus's Garden, I'm not kidding you), I have to say I adored Mr. Squishy. More than that, though, I was incredibly impressed by how convincingly 3D those bubble letters in the title were (and Mr. Squishy himself)--the application of simple lines made these really pop off the page (metaphorically), and I was transfixed. Though the evidence is stacked against Mr. Squishy in re: the TV robbery and so forth, I maintain that he is as innocent as they come, and I hope for future installments.
The Valentine's advice was absolutely excellent. I appreciated the important details advising me not to add TOO much pink and red, lest my guests' eyeballs die. You'd hate to see an eyeball death on V-Day, so I am glad you helped me avoid this terrible fate. Also, the color-coded love monitor was helpful for me to inform my spouse that he should stop calling me "Your Majesty" because that means he barely knows me. However, I will still be making him treat me as royalty and do all the chores, so I will have to come up for a better title for him to call me to express his love. Perhaps "Ruler of the Known Universe"? I must ponder.
As a non-poetic person myself, I sympathized with Clancy Snudgetti's woes (perhaps the most important of which is his excellently dreadful name), and also appreciated his wife's patience, but most importantly, appreciated the illustrator bringing in a well-timed curtain so we did not have to see them smooching too much. Excellent use of artistic censorship.
The Choose Your Own Adventure Comic was TRULY A WORK OF EXCELLENCE. The time that it must take to plan out each individual route and how the panels will be numbered? Impressive. The many plots themselves? Engaging. The artwork? I'm literally still laughing about panel 5, which I encountered on my first read-through (where I'm hiding in the cake display with my open mouth overflowing with illegally-obtained ice cream, and an angry muppet that is my boss is looking for me unsuccessfully). I simply had to reread the comic through until I got every possible ending. I am not exaggerating even a little bit when I think you have a future in the publishing business; all of my students (I am an elementary school librarian) would love to read this type of work, as do I.
And finally, my absolute favorite part of this issue (truly worthy of the back page): The ad for BUSINESS UNDERWEAR (401k infused). The very boring man walking into stores with his butt out is incredible, but every detail of this ad is absolutely phenomenal. I have long been a proponent of MeUndies but I might have to switch to BUSINESS UNDERWEAR if I can ever find it in stores. I am often told I am "too much fun" so I think this might help.
All in all, just a phenomenal publication, and I look forward to encountering many, many more issues as I wander about downtown Worthington. My highest compliments to all creators involved.
Best wishes,
C.K.

Neighborhood News: Showing our Love!
Hi! We are Worthington residents (Evening Street) and look forward to every new issue of Neighborhood News! We wanted to show our love and support. These kids are insanely talented and are doing seriously amazing things with these issues. We can't wait for the next one and although we don't have access to free color copies, we will keep our eyes peeled for ways that we may be able to help out in the future. Happy Monday!

Hi, I just finished reading Neighborhood News Issue 21, accompanying my iced coffee and chocolate cupcake. What an amazing article! I couldn't pick my favorite, was it Dorita, was it Sparkles ice cream poop?? I think it could be the love story between Skipper and Bevin.. that one I am still quite invested in. I hope to hear an update on their relationship... I'm wondering if the new American Girl doll will throw a wrench in their love for one another!! Thank you for brightening my day, and keeping me giggling all the way through. Hope to see the newest issue soon!

Hello! Casper (8yo) really enjoyed the Neighborhood News. Thanks for putting this work out there!

I think Loopy the Lemming (the customer) cut the cheese because the cleaning man is not smart enough to cut it since he took out his brain, and the boss is a bird and too small to pick up the knife.
The great Perplex-o is the "side kick". I'm assuming that means Watson

Nora, this text is for you. I enjoyed your Cayden story. It was cleverly written and kept me riveted to Cayden's character. You also brought out the strong relationship between Cayden and his father. Your description of the doll collector was extraordinary! He appears innocent and friendly; however, you develop the story plot and reveal a more sinister character. Excellent foreboding Nora, you carried me through the entire story line. You are an author of short stories. The ending was absolutely unexpected. You have the gift of suspense. A fan. Miss Lupe'.

Hi there, I just wanted to say that the Neighborhood News is the best reading material we've experienced at a coffee shop! We enjoyed every page and laughed out loud multiple times. It made our day! Thank you and please keep up the great work!

My responses to the Neighborhood News survey are (1) bee! and (2) green!
This is an excellent newspaper. I particularly appreciated the recommendation of basketball and the thoughtful debate about whether homework should be illegal. Is there any way to pay for a subscription? (Please let them know there is demand for more!)

I enjoyed reading the DIY publication at Highline Coffee. I wish more people would share their creativity like this. Thanks for sharing it.
Oh, and my favorite color is yellow

My vote is for mascot=Bird, Color=Blue because it is calming (and my favorite color).
The paper reminds me of the things I created when I was that age. Thanks!
